THE RETREAT
Stillness & Strength is a weekend immersion in a form of Hatha Yoga that is physically engaging, attentive and restorative.
Through sustained postures, breathing practices and periods of rest, we will explore how stillness and sustained attention can help release unnecessary tension, develop greater stability and deepen your relationship with the body and breath.
The weekend includes traditional Hatha Yoga, functional breathing, an introduction to pranayama, guided rest, time outdoors, sauna and opportunities for questions and discussion.
The retreat is limited to 15 guests, allowing space for individual guidance throughout the weekend.
WHO IT IS FOR
The retreat is open to people with different levels of experience.
You do not need to be advanced in yoga, particularly flexible or familiar with pranayama. The important thing is a willingness to practise attentively and explore the work with some depth.
The teaching will be adapted where necessary, allowing each person to work appropriately with their own body and experience.
THE PRACTICE
The physical practice combines mobility, strength, stability, alignment and stillness.
Postures are sustained for long enough to observe their effects throughout the body, rather than moving quickly from one position to another.
The breathing sessions offer a simple introduction to how the breath affects us. Functional breathing principles will then be applied to accessible yogic breathing practices.
The weekend will include:
Traditional Hatha Yoga
Functional breathing exercises
An introduction to pranayama
Guided rest
Walking and time outdoors
Sauna
Questions and discussion
Time to enjoy the house and grounds
